From: "DENISE" I really do not know how to begin this letter. You need to be aware that I've got many health problems and that most of them are complications from my diabetes. Well here is my current problem that I need prayers for because I feel it is the only answer possible. My daughter also has diabetes. She was diagnosed at age 5. I myself was diagnosed when I was age 1 year and 3 months. I have had since her diagnosis a constant battle of wills. She just tonight told me that the doctors are full of it and that she refuses to take care of her diabetes. She is on an insulin pump which should make things easier for her as she only needs to change the site every three days instead of having multiple shots. A pump acts like a mechanical pancreas you get a steady stream like your bodys baseline would be and you give extra for anything you eat. This is the way a normal pancreas would work. All she has to do is test her sugars and then give the appropriate amount. Sounds simple enough and yet we fight constantly. It makes me sick inside because when I met my husband he said he really didn't want kids but he later changed his mind as he realised how much it meant to me. I on the other hand was told by doctors not to have kids because I could go on to develop complications that much sooner since I had been diagnosed so young. I've always loved and wanted children so I opted to be a mom anyway. The starting of my nerve damage occured during pregnancy. I now have many many more problems. One is gastroparesis, the other is rapid heart rate. The gastroparesis means that my stomach doesn't empty properly. It takes me over five hours to digest a single meal because the nervous system is damaged and my digestive system is partly paralyzed. The heart rate thing is also due to nerve damage. Lately I can barely walk because I also have thyroid disease which has caused me to become grossly over weight ( I hate my body). And I have what is called claudication of the legs. In otherwords my legs are in constant pain due to the fact that my blood vessels are hardening in my legs. I am on blood thinners for this. I have also fibromyalgia and constant joint pain. I have allergies and asthma. I also have numbness in parts of my body due to diabetic nerve damage. My kidneys are in stage one renal disease. And I am so very hurt and even sometimes angry because I feel like I gave up my health for nothing. My daughter obviously wants to die. I looked at her meter tonight only to find she is testing maybe once a week! She needs to be testing before every meal to cover properly with her pump. And also I have found and caught her eating and then not taking the extra insulin for her food! She snarls and grumbles and gripes. We have had her to several psychotherapists over the years and nothing has worked! I feel as though I cannot take this any longer. As it is there are many days when I can barely walk myself and my heart is breaking because for Heather it will be that much sooner!!! Why did I insist on having her if the only thing she is going to do is kill herself? Please help me I cannot do this alone anymore! My husband works full time for the military and I am struggling. I have no other close friends to speak of in this area. I feel so alone! I am sorry for burdening you with this but maybe if you all say a prayer someone or something will come into Heather's life to make her feel like it is worth living. The way I see it now she is throwing her life away and slapping me in the face more or less for wanting her in the first place. That hurts. This month my boss increased everybody's salary, but he said he would not increase mine. For the last four years he has not given the full increases that were due. Three times he has played games with me, threatening to remove me so I will lose my pension. This is very mentally disturbing. He is always speaking against the word of God and laughing at Jesus.
